Hematoid Quartz is a type of clear quartz where hematite has formed an incrustation pseudomorph over the crystal. This means that the hematite chemically replaced another mineral without changing the external form of the original mineral. The hematite formed a coating over the other mineral and the coated mineral dissolved leaving a hollow cast of the mineral that coated the dissolved mineral. This causes the quartz to become opaque and reddish brown and sometimes iridescent. This hematoid quartz is from Madagascar. Vitality, Courage.
